Step 1: How To Measure Your Windows Recess Depth
You need at least 1” of unobstructed recess space to mount your shade securely.
How to measure your unobstructed recess space:
- Choose a starting point and measure to the front of the recess (recess depth)
- From the same starting point, measure to the front of the obstruction (obstruction depth)
- The difference is your free recess space (unobstructed recess depth)

Watch for any window obstructions
- Window Handles
- Window Latches
- Window Winders
- Window Locks

Measure With Obstructions
NOTE: You need at least 1" of unobstructed recess space to securely mount your shade.
- Choose a starting point and measure to the front edge of the recess—this is your recess depth.
- From the same starting point, measure to the front of any obstruction—this is your obstruction depth.
- Subtract the obstruction depth from the recess depth to determine your unobstructed recess space.

Step 3: Measuring The Width
- Measure at Three Points – Measure the inside width of the window at the top, middle, and bottom.
- Use the Narrowest Measurement – Write down all three measurements and use the smallest width to ensure the best fit.
- Double-Check for Accuracy – Measure again to confirm your numbers before ordering your shade.

Step 3: Measuring The Height
- Measure at Three Points – Measure from the top of the window recess to the bottom at the left, middle, and right sides.
- Use the Longest Measurement – Write down all three measurements and use the largest height to ensure full coverage.
- Double-Check for Accuracy – Measure again to confirm before placing your order.
